Wabasso Beach, Florida · Indian River County

Web design and local SEO in Wabasso Beach, FL.

Wabasso Beach has no town hall and no mailing name of its own. It's an unincorporated stretch of the barrier island where CR 510 reaches the ocean: 2,194 people at the 2020 Census, with addresses that read Vero Beach. This page is about getting your business found there when even the Post Office calls it something else.

The thing that makes Wabasso Beach different

The Census counts Wabasso Beach. The Post Office calls it Vero Beach.

Wabasso Beach isn't a town. It's a census-designated place: an area the Census Bureau counts on its own, with no local government. It's also a different place from Wabasso on the mainland, which the Census counts separately, so your website shouldn't blur the two.

A place of owners and seasonal homes

At the 2020 Census, 1,129 of the 1,177 occupied homes were lived in by their owners. Another 362 homes were held for seasonal use. That's a lot of houses that need looking after, often while the owner is somewhere else.

An address that says Vero Beach

The Post Office delivers island addresses here as Vero Beach, FL 32963, and it doesn't list Wabasso Beach among the city names for 32963. Wabasso Beach Park, for example, is at 1820 Wabasso Beach Road, Vero Beach.

Why that matters on the map

If your profile and your website only ever say Vero Beach, neither one tells Google you work on this part of the island. Google also weighs how close a business is to the person searching, and a mainland office is farther from an island searcher. No one can promise you the top spot. You can make sure Google knows where you work.

Three places the name belongs

Local SEO for Wabasso Beach: name it where Google can see it.

Local SEO for a business that works in Wabasso Beach comes down to three places where the name has to appear, without changing the address the Post Office gave you.

1. Your Google Business Profile

Keep your address exactly as the Post Office has it. If customers come to you, the profile shows that address. If you go to them, set it up as a service-area business, hide your street address, list the areas you cover and describe your services in plain words, including where you do them. 2. A page that names Wabasso Beach

Not the mainland, and not a town name dropped into a template. A real page about the work you do on the island, with photos of real jobs and the questions people there ask you.

3. Reviews that say where the job was

Ask every customer for a review, and ask them to mention what you did and that the job was in Wabasso Beach. Let them write it in their own words.

Who this works for

The businesses that get the most from this.

Not every business needs this equally. These are the businesses that get the most from being named in Wabasso Beach.

Home services, pool and lawn care, home watch

With 362 homes held for seasonal use at the 2020 Census, a lot of houses here need someone to check on them, clean the pool, cut the grass and meet the contractor while the owner is away. If you do that work, say so on your site and name Wabasso Beach. Web design for contractors and trades.

Businesses on CR 510

The county's Wabasso Corridor Plan, approved April 4, 2017, runs along CR 510 from 66th Avenue to the Atlantic and adds design rules for new non-residential building and major redevelopment. Most of that road is on the mainland. If you're building near A1A and CR 510, ask the county whether your lot is covered.

Anything that serves visitors

Disney's Vero Beach Resort sits inside Wabasso Beach, and Wabasso Beach Park draws beachgoers. Visitors look you up on a phone, so put your hours and number at the top.

Where I'd tell you to spend less

If your work comes from a few long-standing clients who already know you, you may not need a big site. Finish your Google profile, ask for reviews and keep your money. I'll tell you that on the call.

Being straight about the competition

How to compare web designers for Wabasso Beach.

Very few web designers have a page about Wabasso Beach at all, and the one I found mixes the island with mainland Wabasso. Whoever you hire, here are four questions worth asking.

Ask first

Who owns the domain?

It should be you, in your name, from day one. Ask to see it in writing before you pay. Mine is in writing.

Ask second

Is the price published?

If you have to book a call to hear a number, ask for it in writing first. Mine are in the price table further down.

Ask third

Does the page know where it is?

A page about Wabasso Beach should be about the island, not the mainland community with a similar name. Read it the way a local would.

Ask fourth

Do you rent the site back to me?

Some sites live on a platform you pay for every month to keep. Ask what happens to the site if you stop paying. With me, the site and the domain are yours either way.

One person, both jobs

Web design and local SEO, done together.

On the island, your address says one thing and your customers call the place another. I build and look after the website and the Google profile together, so both name the same places.

Your website

Built for the phone first, with your services, your prices if you publish them, and the places you work named in plain words. Redesigns too, if you already have a site.

Your Google profile

Set up or cleaned up so it matches your site: same name, same phone, same services, same areas. On the island that includes the Vero Beach address and the Wabasso Beach name living side by side without contradicting each other.

Reviews and upkeep

A simple way to ask for reviews, and monthly plans that keep the site and the profile current. Month to month. Cancel any time.

What you keep

If you ever leave, you take everything with you.

Some website deals keep the domain or the hosting in the designer's name, and the owner only finds out when they try to leave. Before you pay anyone, get ownership in writing. I put mine in writing.

Ask me anything before you decide
  • The domain is registered in your name. From day one, not mine.
  • You get every login. Hosting, Google, analytics, email, in writing.
  • No contract to break. Monthly plans are month to month.
  • No fee to leave. Not for transferring, not for releasing anything.

Wabasso Beach questions

What people here ask.

Is Wabasso Beach the same place as Wabasso?

No. The Census Bureau counts them as two separate places: Wabasso Beach on the barrier island, with 2,194 people at the 2020 Census, and Wabasso on the mainland, with 1,627.

My address says Vero Beach. Will that hurt me in Wabasso Beach searches?

No, as long as you name the place where it fits. Keep your address exactly as the Post Office has it, which on the island is Vero Beach, FL 32963. Then name Wabasso Beach in your Google profile's service descriptions and on your website, so your profile and your site say the same thing.

Do I need a business tax receipt in Wabasso Beach?

Wabasso Beach has no town government, so the county handles it. The Indian River County Tax Collector issues the local business tax receipt for unincorporated areas, and a business run from home also needs a county home occupation permit. I wrote up what the receipt costs and how to get one on my blog.

Do I need a website, or is a Google profile enough?

For many small businesses, the Google profile alone does more than a website, and it costs $300 once instead of $800 and up. Send me your business name and I'll tell you which one makes sense, even if the answer is the cheaper one.

Should I list Wabasso Beach as a service area?

If Google offers Wabasso Beach in your profile's service-area box, yes. If it doesn't, list the nearby places it does offer, and name Wabasso Beach in your service descriptions and on your website. That's the honest way to say where you work.

What happens if I want to leave?

You take everything. The domain is in your name from the start, you get every login in writing, and there's no fee to leave and no contract to break.
